OKLAHOMA CITY – Elite 2026 EDGE rusher Jake Kreul officially pledged to the University of Oklahoma on Tuesday, turning heads across the college football world and giving the Sooners a key defensive prospect.
The IMG star, originally from Orlando, has trained for many years under Central Florida defensive line guru Aaron “Tank” Jones of Trenchmen Academy (www.thetrenchmenacademy.com), and it’s clear that all the hard work has paid off.
A Five-Star Addition
The IMG Academy standout ranks among the nation’s top recruits
ESPN lists him as a five-star recruit,
While the 247Sports Composite places him at No. 63 nationally and No. 9 among edge rushers.
Rivals ranks him No. 41 overall and the No. 8 EDGE in the class. Kreul brings size (6’3”, 230‑240 lbs), quickness, and polish to Oklahoma’s defense.
Why He Chose Oklahoma
Kreul’s decision came down to one word: trust.
He credited his strong relationships with Head Coach Brent Venables and DE Coach Miguel Chavis, emphasizing the consistency and communication he received from the staff.
“I love the defense Coach Venables has—it’s super aggressive,” Kreul explained. “The way you get sacks is you’ve got to get them behind the chains.”
His official visit in late June helped solidify the fit, as he connected with players like projected draftee Mason Thomas and experienced the team’s culture firsthand.
Background & Production
At IMG Academy in 2024, Kreul tallied:
39 tackles
12 tackles for loss
11 QB hurries
6 sacks
He also made waves in elite events, including the Under Armour All‑America Game and the Polynesian Bowl, earning “Alpha Dog” honors at the Under Armour Next Camp in Miami.
What It Means for Oklahoma
Kreul becomes the 16th commit in Oklahoma’s 2026 class and the program’s highest-rated recruit to date, overtaking QB Bowe Bentley.
His addition injects elite pass-rushing ability into Brent Venables’ aggressive defense—this marks Oklahoma’s fourth consecutive cycle with a five-star commitment.
Summary
Jake Kreul’s commitment is a major recruiting victory for Oklahoma. His trust in the coaching staff, fit within Venables’ defense, and proven production elevate the Sooners’ 2026 class both in talent and credibility.
